Upcoming make-up trends
1. Blush, blush and more blush
This year, more and more people have started to embrace the blushed up look. With the likes of the sunburn blush trend – a hearty helping of blush swept over the cheeks and nose – taking hold on TikTok earlier in the year, it’s no surprise really.
In winter 2022 and spring 2023, blush will be the star of the show. Fashion designer Christian Cowan’s SS23 collection featured fabulous clothing and layers upon layers of different toned blushes. Build up a blush profile that exactly matches your client’s complexion using a light hand, many layers, and complementary hues.
2. Half and three-quarter false lashes
Going into the party season, more clients will want lashes with their make-up to add some extra drama to their look. In years gone by, full and dramatic strip lashes were a safe bet. However, a make-up trend for winter 2022 and spring 2023 is half or three-quarter lashes to accentuate the eyes.
An easy way to do this is to cut strip lashes into segments that can be carefully placed on the lash line to make the lashes seem fuller and longer, or to use individual lashes.
3. Fluffed up brows
Gone are the days of the meticulously carved out ‘Instagram brows’. Many people now opt for a fluffy brow with no harsh concealer lines and more of their natural brow hairs on show. Because of this, brow lamination became a staple in many beauty therapist’s services – giving clients that full and fluffy look without the daily hassle of doing it themselves.
Brow lamination and fluffy brows aren’t going away any time soon. However, consider keeping the top of your client’s laminated brows natural, rather than running a spoolie over them to create a harsh edge.
4. TikTok make-up trends will be more influential than ever
Often TikTok is the home of new make-up trends, aside from the runways. There’s been a whole host of new trends that found fame on the social media platform. It isn’t slowing down or stopping either. Make sure you keep up-to-date with any make-up looks going viral on TikTok, as they’ll be more influential than ever with more people using the platform.
